Please enjoy this RNN’s Profiles in Health and Wellness featured guest Tom Rodrigues who is a Community Health Educator. Tom’s interest in helping others become healthier began with his own poor health choices when he was in his early twenties. It was then that he realized he needed to make some changes. Tom then decided he wanted to assist others in doing the same. He encourages his clients to fulfill their potential by being present and mindful and “not getting down on yourself.” He asks them what they can you do today to improve a little bit. Tom focuses on the mind body connection. “It’s truly a holistic approach to make the true gains that you want to make in your goals.” He also feels it’s important to incorporate education about healthy eating and the benefits of meditation. Tom has his clients, at the end of a personal training session, take time to connect with their breath and be present. “To download all of the physical gains that you had during that session.” Tom gets some of his methodology in helping others from yoga. He enjoys working with people who are open minded and interested in transforming the whole self.
