Please enjoy this RNN’s Profiles in Health and Wellness featured guest Debbie Kilty who is also a licensed massage therapist and the RI American Massage Therapy Association Chapter Secretary. Debbie begins by explaining the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). It is a nation wide organization that offers support, liability insurance, and training for licensed massage therapist throughout the country. Each state has it’s own chapter. Rhode Island’s chapter tries to meet every six weeks and is open to the public. Debbie got involved with this Association to help promote and support her profession. The RI Chapter of the AMTA is currently promoting their second annual RI Massage Therapy Convention which takes place October 27-29, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI. The purpose of this Convention is to offer quality education to massage therapists. There will be an exhibit hall where vendors will be located. The registration fee also includes a cocktail reception, breakfast on both days, lunch and a banquet dinner on Saturday night as well as a DJ and dancing. Debbie reports that they have many great presenters lined up covering topics such as: Orthopedic Massage, Myofascial Release Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Reiki, Ethics, Self Care to name a few.
