Please enjoy this RNN’s Profiles in Health and Wellness featured guest Jude Monteserrato who is a Certified Purna Yoga Instructor at the 2,000 hour level. PURNA Yoga was founded by Aadil Palkhivala and his wife Savitri. Jude shares how she got involved in yoga in 2003 as a way to cope with the loss of her husband on September 11, 2001. She felt that it was her soul calling her to yoga to help her through this difficult time. In practicing yoga “it was the only time of the day I felt peacefulness, serenity.” It helped clear her mind and “it felt good to be on my mat connecting to that moment.

Jude believes that we first need to learn to love ourselves. She then shares some of the other benefits of practicing yoga such as; tranquility, focus, clarity, grounding, stability, and living from the heart. Jude teaches PURNA Yoga which incorporates heartfull meditation, asana (the physical postures), pranayama (the breath), lifestyle and nutrition, and applied philosophy. She is also now teaching teachers of yoga. “The tools they receive from PURNA Yoga is astounding.” Some of the physical benefits of yoga include building strength, flexibility, and improved sleep.
